RAN Architecture

Ericsson RAN Compute integrates DU + low CU; high CU runs on Cloud RAN / Apt nodes. CPRI/eCPRI to Radio (AIR family — AIR 6488 / 6449). RU offerings cover FR1 sub-6 + FR2 mmWave.

MO Classes

Ericsson 5G MO model: NRCellDU (cell-level config), NRCellCU (RRC level), GNBDUFunction, GNBCUCPFunction. Numerology config in NRCellDU.subcarrierSpacing.

Numerology Configuration

Ericsson supports μ=0..3 (FR1) and μ=2..3 (FR2). For n78: subcarrierSpacing=30. dlBandwidth=100 (PRBs). Initial BWP via initialDlBwp / initialUlBwp.

Beam Management

Ericsson 64T64R AIR units do 8-beam SSB sweep (μ=1). CSI-RS resources via CSI-RSResource MO. Beam failure detection via BeamFailureRecovery MO.

KPI Mapping

Ericsson OSS counters: pmPdcpVolDlDrbNRCell (DL throughput), pmPdcpVolUlDrbNRCell (UL throughput), pmPdschTbsBin* (MCS distribution), pmPrachAttempt (RACH attempts).

Tuning Workflow

1. Pull counters from ENM (Ericsson Network Manager). 2. Cells with low pmPdcpVolDl → check pmPdschBlerCwx. 3. High BLER → check beam config or cell power. 4. Adjust via ENM. 5. Validate.
