A practical course on the O-RAN RIC

Build production xApps and rApps. Understand every service, every interface, every protocol message — explained the way a senior engineer would walk a new team-mate through it.

What you'll actually learn

No marketing fluff. Every lesson is the kind of explanation you wish your senior engineer had given you on day one.

Near-RT RIC, end-to-end

A 42-minute deep-dive on the seven platform services (E2T, xApp manager, subscription manager, conflict mitigation, policy enforcement, shared DB, observability), the 100 ms control loop, high availability, five real production incidents, and performance tuning at the kernel / JVM / Kafka / Postgres layers.

Non-RT RIC, end-to-end

The other 42-minute flagship. rApp SDK (data, model, policy, intent, alarm APIs), the 10-step canonical ML workflow, A1-ML publish path, data lake architecture, governance, and a complete energy-saving rApp walkthrough — from cron-job to ₹kWh saved.

Every interface, ASN.1-deep

A1 (policy + ML + EI), E2 (subscription + indication + control), O1, O2, R1. Full coverage of E2 service models — KPM, RC, NI, CCC, ML — including ASN.1 message walkthroughs. Anchored to O-RAN WG3 RICARCH v04 and 3GPP Release 18/19.

xApp + rApp engineering

Container descriptor YAML, SDK calls, full 10-stage lifecycle, canary rollout, five anti-patterns. Real examples — KPM monitoring xApp, mobility-management xApp, energy-saving control xApp, throughput-prediction LSTM rApp.

The CafeTele team

A team of telecom engineers with combined decades in 5G RAN — operator deployments, vendor platforms, and standards work. CafeTele publishes the kind of training material we wish existed when we started.

The full O-RAN Architecture course (24 lessons, ₹1,259) is the prerequisite for this one if you're new to Open RAN. If you already know the architecture and want to specialize in the RIC plane, this course is the right next step.

Questions

Is this a video file or an interactive web course?

Interactive. You watch it in your browser like a video, but you can pause, seek, re-watch any scene, and take inline quizzes after each lesson. Your progress is saved automatically.

How current are the standards?

O-RAN ALLIANCE specifications through 2026 + 3GPP Release 18/19. WG3 RICARCH v04, WG2 Non-RT-RIC v01, all E2 service models (KPM, RC, NI, CCC, ML).

Do I need to be a Kubernetes expert?

No. The course explains the K8s primitives the RIC uses (pods, namespaces, RBAC, device plugins) as we encounter them. If you know what a container is, you'll follow along fine.

Are there code examples?

Yes — real rApp descriptor YAML, complete training rApp Python outline, conflict-mitigation rule syntax, Prometheus metric names, SCTP / SDK call patterns, LSTM model architecture for throughput prediction.

How is this different from the O-RAN Architecture course?

The O-RAN course covers the entire Open RAN architecture (CU, DU, RU, fronthaul, SMO). This course goes DEEP into the RIC plane specifically — xApp, rApp, ML pipeline. Take O-RAN first if you're new to the whole stack.

Refund policy?

7-day no-questions-asked refund if it's not what you expected. Email [email protected].
